  31. The SW40 uses small pistol primers by design.  If they used large primers,
  32. the ejector might come in contact with the primer of a live round.
  33.  
  34. The 10mm uses a large pistol primer in order to obtain consistancy with 
  35. interior ballistics.  You could certainly trim a 10mm case down to 40SW
  36. length, but you'd risk "accidental" discharge due to ejector location.
  37. (I put quotes around "accidental" for a reason.)  Also, your internal
  38. pressures in a 40 with large primer would be different than in any
  39. published loading data that I've seen.  Not that I've seen a lot, but
  40. every bit I've seen has used standard small pistol primers.
