  13.     I would prune the oldest, thickest branches out (or if it's like the
  14. one by our house, 20' high by 25' wide, SAW them out), allowing the younger
  15. shoots to develop...  If you cut it down to the ground, you'll just kill the
  16. poor thing...  Getting rid of older wood also prevents the likely hood of
  17. borer infestation or disease...
