  30. Yeah, and the reducto ad absurdum of that attitude is that people
  31. continue to loot and kill in Bosnia, and no one seems able to stop them
  32. either. "No one can stop them" doesn't mean that no one _should_ stop
  33. them, or that "they" acquire some right to do what no one can stop them
  34. from doing.

  36. I will admit that I pirated Apple II game software in high school, and
  37. that I taped other people's records in college. Once I graduated and hit
  38. the real world I thought about the ethics of copying things (and the
  39. indirect adverse effect on my career as a software designer) and gave it
  40. up. Maybe making enough money to afford more of the things I wanted had
  41. something to do with it too.

  44. and ethical principles? Like, how uncool!" That's bullshit.

  46. Let me ask everyone another fun hypothetical question: If you could rape
  47. a woman of your choice [female readers can substitute "beat someone up"]
  48. with absolutely no chance of being recognized, caught or punished, would
  49. you do it? This question was actually asked in a poll and a really
  50. disturbingly high number of men (20%?) actually said "yes".
