- Not really. Certainly many games are geared to kiddies...take Road Runner's
- Death Valley Rally for the Super NES...a total piece of crap, designed for
- little kids who want to be the Road Runner. However, I think most of the
- companies realize that they aren't making games primarily for kiddies.

- I'm glad you realized this! Of course it isn't for kiddies! For the
- vast majority of rec.games.video readers, video games are a way of life,
- a philosophy, a different state of being!

-
- Game companies do indeed realize that their games are generally for
- older, more disciminating gamers. The reason 80% - 90% of all 16-bit games
- suck (same with 8-bit, I guess, but who cares about 8 bit anymore?) is simply
- because these game designers sometimes get incredibly lazy. The second big
- reason is they usually have strict deadlines. If you're wondering why Sonic 2
- for the Genesis is such a turkey, the answer is simple: Sega rushed it to
- get it out for Christmas. If you're wondering why NHLPA Hockey '93 for the
- Super NES is so incredibly HORRIBLE, it's because the programmers at
- Electronic Arts were rushing the game, and didn't care if they produced a
- piece of crap in the process. Laziness and deadlines...the two factors that
- account for the amazing number of crappy games.
-

-
- You got that right.
