- .sit is the Macintosh Stuffit format; StuffIt Lite is shareware
- and ftpable from many places. You can also try signing up for
- America Online, I think they will send you a copy of StuffIt
- on disk if you do.

- .tar is the UNIX tape archiver program; there are several
- implementation for the Mac on the usual sites.
