  18. It's a creature from Tron. :-)

  20. Tron was a movie that came out around 1981 right smack in the middle of the
  21. first video game boom.   The main character entered the "world of the
  22. computer" via a prototype transporter, to defeat the evil Master Control
  23. Program, running through basically a fantasy world where programs were people
  24. and things.  The movie had some computer animation in it, and lots of fake
  25. "computer animation" done by recoloring normal scenes.  There was an associated
  26. video game, with four parts based on scenes from the movie.

  28. The main grid bug scene apparently was cut from the movie, but stayed in the
  29. game.  In it, grid bugs are cannon fodder which you shoot a path through; you
  30. then spend the rest of the scene blasting them for points.  They only move
  31. along grid lines (tilted diagonally in the game).  They weren't green in the
  32. game, though I don't know about the movie.
