- Given the assumption that West has 3 clubs and at least as many clubs
- as diamonds, I think the following line always works:
- Pitch clubs on the hearts, then win the return and cash 1 trick in
- each suit. If anyone has shown out, you can count the hand well
- enough to pick a squeeze (If west shows out in diamonds or spades,
- squeeze him in the other plus clubs. If not and East shows out in
- clubs, squeeze east in diamonds and spades). So assume everyone
- follows. Cash the other club. If East shows out, cash a diamond. If
- West is out of diamonds, the last diamond squeezes him. If West
- follows, he can't guard spades so cash those, squeezing West in the
- minors (degenerately if he has 3 diamonds). If East has another club,
- then West is assumed to have at most 3 diamonds. Cash the diamonds
- and one opponent will be squeezed out of their spade guard. If West
- shows up with 4 diamonds, maybe you can sneak the spade 6 through,
- then face your hand claiming the SKQ :-).
-
- Note that this line will also work when West is 3-4-4-2 (but not when
- he is 2-4-4-3).
