- Your system, perhaps? Many partnerships that I have seen do not allow
- a huge amount of latitude in whether to respond 2m (natural, limited) or 1NT
-
- Note also that the inferences are somewhat different in that 1minor - 1NT
- covers a wider range of hands when playing inverted minor.

- I am making NO claims as to theoretical superiority. I am merely reporting
- that I have personally observed the auction 1m - 2m to generally be
- significantly less pre-emptive in effect than the auction 1m - 1NT. You can
- ridicule this as much as you want and I'll ignore you. Or you can argue that
- this ISN'T so (not that it shouldn't be so, but that it is NOT so) and I'll
- listen to your arguments.
-
- There are many hands on which I WANT to make a simple minor raise where I am
- forced by system to bid a NT instead. Then, on comparing results, more often
- than not I found that we got to a "better" (higher scoring, this is
- matchpoints remember) contract than the field.
