- I assume the blindness is complete? I flew down to Orlando for the nationals
- just for the hell of it and spent half my time in the novice events wondering
- why I was here, and the other half in the side game getting creamed, but
- learning, with a delightful partner Mary Allen who was almost completely
- blind. She used a BIG magnifying glass for her hand, but I had to call all
- the other cards for her. She was quite the LOL, but I enjoyed it, well,
- except for scoring 35% games :-(, but put me in a field with sheinwold and
- steward and I thought it was ok. I think some of the other suggestions
- are good, and speaking from my experience, the opponents were understanding
- and supportive, though that might have been because we wandered the field
- passing out tops. I encourage you to work on this. I suspect that if you
- contact the ACBL, they might be willing to offer some assistance, seems
- like one of those nice publicity things that they seem to like.
