  12.    Well I finally have a minute & people are still posting this
  13.    thread so I guess it is my turn:

  15.    My name is Amy Lehman.  I will be 26 in March and I work at
  16.    Mead Data Central as a Software Engineer in Dayton, OH.

  18.    Without this newsgroup, I would not currently own my gelding,
  19.    Beau!  I read this group Monday-Friday faithfully.  I have been
  20.    reading for about two years.  I don't post very often because
  21.    I am still a novice when it comes to horsey care. I saw Sue 
  22.    Bishop's name in the listing one day.  Her posting address 
  23.    is from Wright State university.  I graduated from WSU and
  24.    I do not live very far from it.  After seeing postings from 
  25.    California, UK, Canada, etc., I was very exited to see a posting
  26.    so close to home.  So I sent her an email to say "Hello".
  27.    One thing lead to another and now we are very good friends.  
  28.    She helped me buy Beau from Ricarda, another newsgroup participant!

  30.    Anyway, I have been Horse Crazy my entire life.  My room was
  31.    PLASTERED with horse pictures, wallpaper, bedspread, ... well you
  32.    get the picture.  My riding experience as a child comprised of
  33.    2 weeks each summer at Girl Scout camp.  I'd get to ride 
  34.    about 6 hours a day and we learned a lot about grooming, tack,
  35.    etc.  My training consisted completely of western and bareback.
  36.    Living in the suburbs I did not know anyone who owned
  37.    horses so I had to be content with camp.

  39.    When I was old enough to buy my own horse there were a lot of
  40.    things holdings me back.  The main thing was that I did not have
  41.    a mentor to help me through daily horse care problems.  I didn't
  42.    even have someone to show me where to look to buy a horse.  I
  43.    didn't want to subject a defenseless horse to my ignorance. :-)
  44.    When Sue offered to board Beau if I bought him, it made a perfect
  45.    match.  Sue got a horse for her 4H kids and I got a horse I
  46.    could afford to keep and someone to show me the ropes!  Sue has
  47.    been teaching me to ride English.  I hope to jump into one or
  48.    two of the open class events at her 4H shows this summer!
