- I subscribe to Practical Horseman and Equus. Being in Canada, I also
- get Horse Sport.~
-
- For enjoyment I buy Spur ("The mag of Thoroughbred and Country Life"),
- which I describe as National Geographic meets horses. It has the most
- beautiful production imaginable. The magazine format includes a
- calendar of equestrian events for the following months including
- racing, hunter/jumper, polo and steeplechase. It has an article on a
- North American show place farm (Sam-Son was featured recently)
- articles on riders, a monthly sporting art feature and an article on a
- particular area (eg Chesepeake, Virginia Hunt Country, Palm Beach etc)~
-
- When I want to catch up on the hunter/jumper scene from an insiders
- view I read "Horses". Although the production of "Horses" is
- gorgeous, its "we're on the inside and aren't we fabulous" style makes
- me gag.
-
- My two faves are PH and Equus.~
-
- PH has the best technical how-to articles. I enjoy playing along
- with the confirmation clinic and reading how George Morris sees
- various jumpers.~
-
- If you only buy one magazine, I would recommend Equus. It has how-to
- articles as well as general information and a specific article each
- month on various horse issues (Laminitis, feeding, movement come to
- mind).~
