- Regarding the person who is thinking about adopting the
- Ridgeback, I say go for it. We have had out male 21/2 year old
- Ridgeback for two weeks and he is just WONDERFUL. Doesn't bark,
- chew, bother the cat (never had seen one), is submissive to our
- older dog. Doesn't get excited by the horses (had never seen one)
- Doesn't mind neighbors comming over-stays on his carpet spot in the
- house, jogs with me and stays by my side. Since he has been shown
- you can handle any part of his body with no problem. Plus, he is
- just beautiful, shiny red coat, expressive face. Very loving and
- friendly, I don't expect any problems with my little kids. He is
- also very smart and has alreadyh learned he has a place in the house
- he is expected to stay unless invited elsewhere, and has also
- learned to sit. I am all for the breed, but don't expect a four
- month puppy to be perfect.
-
- This breed seems very laid back and mellow. Bogey, for example,
- will take one fast run across our pasture then come and snooze out
- by me as I am painting the fence. They do seem to sleep a lot but
- also seem like athletic dogs and he enjoys running with me. I hope
- to eventually take h im out riding with the horses, and don't think
- he will give any problem.
-
- They are about the size of a doberman, but with a much bigger head.
- I can't imagine a burglar wanting to tangle with one
