  15.     Unfortunately, the Spanish Riding School MAY not be
  16.     performing in Vienna right now. There was a major fire in the 
  17.     Hofburg(the palace complex in which their riding hall is located) 
  18.     last November.The roof of the hall was wet down to prevent 
  19.     spreading of the fire. The hall suffered a lot of water damage and
  20.     was closed for repairs. I'm not sure that it has reopened yet.

  28.     The Vienna Tourist Board puts out a brochure with information on The
  29.     Spanish Riding School. To get a brochure, write to the nearest office 
  30.     of the Vienna Tourist Board. Any travel agent should be able to 
  31.     provide the address or get a brochure for you.

  33.     My wife and I went to Vienna last year and spent a LOT of time at
  34.     The Spanish Riding School's training sessions and performances. We 
  35.     also visited the stud farm(about a 3 hr drive from Vienna) and found
  36.     other horsey things to do in Vienna. I would be glad to mail an 
  37.     ASCII diagram of the seating arrangements, my opinion of where to 
  38.     sit, the price of seats in various locations, info on the training 
  39.     sessions, the stud farm, etc. to anybody who is interested. The 
  40.     stuff is from a journal I kept on the trip so it's too long 
  41.     to put all of it on the net.

  44.     A summary of the info in The Spanish Riding School's 1992 brochure 
  45.     is as follows:

  47.     NO VISITS TO THE STABLES( This is a bummer! But, too many people were
  48.     leaving gum in the water buckets, etc)

  50.     Morning training sessions are open to the public:
  51.         From Mid-Feb through June and Late August through October.
  52.         Tues-Sat 10:00 to noon
  53.         Admission AS70(About US $7) No reservations. You stand in line
  54. so get there EARLY if you want to get good seats! We went over about
  55. 8:30 AM and we were NOT the first in line!

  58.         Long(1:20) on Weds Evening or Sunday Morning
  59.             Admission AS200-700(seats) or AS150-160(standing room)
  60.                           at today's exchange rate that's about US $20-$70 and
  61.                           $15-$16 respectively

  71.     notice but we advise not to depend on it."
