- Hello. My name is Ellen Crawford and I work at Hewlett-Packard in
- Santa Clara California as a computer programmer. I ride in Woodside.
-
- My horse history began when I was a kid, and my mom took me every-other-
- week for lessons at Onondarka Riding School in Southern California. I
- eventually became a camp counselor there and spent most of my summers
- there through high school. I ended up buying one of their school-
- horses, Quaker. When Foxfield started up, I moved out there, and took
- Quaker. I was a summer camp counselor there, too, until I went off to
- college at Stanford.
-
- Quaker and I went to Stanford, where I found I didn't have enough time for
- him, so I gave him to a nice family and finally finished my studies with
- a computer-music interdepartmental major.
-
- Nowadays I ride a wonderful older(22) Thoroughbred named Albee. Though he
- has a little arthritis in his shoulder, it usually works out after we
- get moving. When we ride in the ring, I am constantly amazed at how well
- schooled he is, and how willing. He's a great horse. Up until several
- years ago I used to jump him (3') but the jumps were taken away from his
- ring, and so now we mainly ride flat. I also take him out on the
- Woodside Trails (or does he take me?) and though he spooks at the
- weirdest things (those killer deer get him every time) he knows all
- the trails and is always willing to tell me the shortest way home.
-
- I enjoy rec.equestrian and thank you all for the friendly "tone" of this
- group.
