- My name is Judi Cyrus. I live in Newberg, Oregon (near Portland) and
- work for Hewlett-Packard in McMinnville. I currently have 1 QH, 2 dogs,
- 2 cats, 4 ducks, 1 cockatiel, a bunch of fish, 2 goats, 1 husband (for 23
- years!) and 3 daughters. Yup, and I'm another horse crazy animal lover
- from birth.
-
- I grew up in Rifle, Colorado and got my first horse, a yearling bay of
- Appaloosa roots, but no spots, as an 8th grade graduation present. We
- broke each other to ride and I got into showing Appaloosas for the
- friend we bought my filly from and who continued to board her for me.
- I had four great horsey years, then, after getting married, found I
- could not afford to keep my horses (by then I was up to 3--my original,
- an Appy gelding to show, and a foal from my mare and High Hand Man, my
- friend's stud) and start a family. So to my everlasting sorrow, we
- sold the horses, planning to reclaim the hobby soon. Soon turned out to
- be 20 years. After living in Minnesota, Colorado, New Mexico, several
- locations in Oregon, Montana, and Germany, we finally bought a house on
- three acres and a couple of years ago I bought 14 year old Missy at an
- auction. I really bought her for my kids, planning to buy another, more
- challenging, horse for myself. I still plan to..... But meanwhile, I am
- enjoying Missy no end! She has a great attitude and is loads of fun. We
- just ride on the roads and trails around where we live.
-
- When I showed horses, I participated in Western youth events, Western
- Pleasure, barrels, poles, trail riding, a little reining, and showed in
- haltar classes. I have always wanted to learn to jump, and I still hope
- I will someday, though I am now 40. So I am watching for the horse to
- start that with. I enjoy this group and learn a lot from it. Haven't
- been a poster, because I haven't felt I had anything to contribute.
- Until now. Anyone can write a bio! Thanks for asking, it's been fun.
