- Tried to e-mail you, but it didn't work. Hopefully this will be of
- general interest to the net. If not, my apologies
-
- My trainer has recommended a book called _Training the Young Horse_,
- subtitled "The first two years", by Anthony Crossley. I bought
- it last week, and haven't read much of it yet, but it was highly
- recommended by my trainer and by others at the barn who have started
- young horses, so I thought I'd pass it along. (FYI - all the recommenders
- are principally interested in dressage. I think basic dressage
- training is a fine way to start any horse you are planning to ride
- English. If you disagree, this may not be the book for you).
-
- It assumes that you are starting with a three- or four-year-old horse,
- who has not been ridden, and possibly never lunged (longed?). It
- takes you through "medium level" dressage, including canter half-passes
- and flying changes. I don't think it covers jumping, but I'm not sure.
-
- Hope this is some help. Good luck!
