- Incidentally, most rookies will respond. But the phenoms who
- get popular really fast stop responding. For example, Frank Thomas
- answered for a little while, but he doesn't anymore.

- The monkey wrench now is that card companies put out cards for touted
- phenoms like Todd VanPoppel before they ever get anywhere near AAA ball.
- Ergo, they stop signing long before they get the chance to be good or
- crappy.
