- I seem to recall that one of the pioneers of rock climbing in Squamish
- (the Grand Wall, Slab Alley and others) died from rapping off the end
- of a rope in Yosemite not so many years later. His name escapes me, but
- there is a memorial to him on the Apron in Squamish at the top of the
- North Apron.
