- Not carrying extras like climbing gear, getting water from creeks,
- even with a stove, summer, and a light bag, skipping a tent: sure.
-
- Thermarest? Last summer I had a nice granite slab I slept on in the
- Minarets (climbed two), another time I used sand (glacial debris),
- and numerous naps on grass or needles. You don't need a pad
- (except in winter or colder time, but that violates the summer assumption
- to start). That's not a boast, that's just an account of facts.
-
- Back in 1972, had a Mt. Whitney trip. That was 14 pounds for three days.
- The thing you have to realize is that all that gear is mostly luxury
- like the Thermarest. And none of this means resorting to survival gear.
- Intelligent use of limited gear and food in certain environments
- and conditions is easily doable.

- Ah, Wayne, did the net burn you? Yeah I think a suit like that is more
- than enough for many areas. 8^)
