  12.     Ok, I've been watching this group for a while, looking
  13.     for a pointer to a FAQ, and haven't seen one, so I'm asking:

  15.     What are the addresses and phone numbers for mail
  16.     order suppliers of backpacking equipage, such as
  17.     Marmot, Eastern Mountain Sports, North Face, etc.?
  18.     I'm an REI member but am not impressed with the overall
  19.     quality of their name-brand stuff.  I'm currently in
  20.     the market for a waterprof parka and pants, but I
  21.     don't want to spend the megabucks on GoreTex unless
  22.     absolutely required.  Ideally I'd like a waterproof,
  23.     or at least highly resistant, outer shell which is
  24.     rugged and easily vented.
