- I *love* REI, but I'm afraid my NewStar backpack has had stitching failure\
- twice in less than a year now. I had minor failure on a side seam due to
- heavy tension used to tighten it up. Also, the shoulder strap anchor point
- in the middle pulled out when lifting the pack to put it on.

- Both cases involved more than normal use, but it seems to me that the pack
- should handle it. Both times I returned the pack and got a new one. Maybe
- I should have let them repair it and I would have ended up with a stronger
- overall pack.
