- I have heard a good deal about the scenic wonders of Hawaii
- But I have heard very nothing about the possibilities
- of backpacking there. Can anyone answer some of these questions
- for me:
-
- 1. Are there sufficiently long trails to warrant a backpacking trip
- (as opposed to trails suitable for day hikes)?
-
- 2. Is backpacking with a tent permitted? sensible? possible? practical?
-
- 3. Are there possibilities for hotel to hotel or hostel to hostel or
- B&B to B&B backpacking trips?
-
- 4. Are there any special factors that even an experienced backpacker
- would need to know about? I have in mind dangerous mammals, dangerous
- reptiles or amphibians, insects, water, campsites.
-
- 5. Is transportation to trailheads a. easy by public transportation?
- b. barely possible by public transportation? c. possible only by
- private car?
