- I'm not sure of the LAST one, but I know an AD-1 Skyraider (prop-driven
- SPAD) shot down a MiG during the 60's. Actually, there may have been 2
- MiG kills by Spads. I could find out the exact date if it turns out to be
- the latest kill.
-
- The pilot told me something to the effect of,
- "I found myself in an unusual position.
- - On a MiG's tail
- - Chasing it uphill
- - and CLOSING.
- What else could I do but shoot it?"
-
- Seems the MiG had been climbing after this guy's wingman at the same time
- our hero was diving down to distract him. The MiG started running out of
- airspeed right about the time the Spad bottomed out of his dive and pulled
- up behind the MiG.
