-
- Mentioning _Memphis Belle_; it was shown on UK television over the
- Christmas break, the first time I've seen it since I was a teenager, and
- I was amazed at what a superb piece of film it was, the combat footage
- especially.
-
- Anyway, what amazed me about the film was the condition of some of the
- B-17's that had successfully returned home after the raid. One with the
- entire nose shot off, and another with virtually no tailplane, let alone
- rudder left. A real testament to the strength of these planes, as well
- as to the skill and determination of the men that got them home.
