- no problem. my gti16v passenger's door did this, just take the lock
- apart by prying off the chrome or black cover plate on the handle,
- and removing the bolt from inside the door. it's a stupid design
- that invites theft by prying a screwdriver through the door and
- pressing down on the latch inside of the door. just take it apart
- and look at it... it's easy to see. anyway, by realigning
- everything, and adding lots of wd40 spray, it can be reassembled so
- that it works fine.
-
- consider it periodic maintenance. give it a try! only takes 5
- minutes.
-
- If you use (white) lithium grease instead of WD40, the maintainance
- won't be quite as periodic. BTW, did anybody ever notice that the
- word "lubricate" doesn't appear anywhere on a can of WD40? It
- penetrates well, but doesn't lubricate well or very long.
