  37. actually, i have this very book, and although i haven't really read it
  38. closely, i think that rather than "lemons", the book would have been
  39. better titled "unsuccessful" cars.  I'm sorry that i can't comment
  40. on the VW's, as i had to leave it at home, and didn't make it
  41. that far in it.  Most of the other cars talked about in there were
  42. more cars that had..problems selling, rather than really anything
  43. actually wrong with the car.  Aslo, some of them were cars that had
  44. bad raps, according to many, like the corvair, and the Pinto(please,
  45. no debates on truth to the reputations these cars acquired..i'm just
  46. trying to inform!;-).  Perhaps this is all that the type III's are in
  47. there for..because they never sold well(i don't have sales figures, so
  48. this is an educated stab in the dark).  But as far as i know, the type
  49. III's never really had specific problems(besides those related to VW's
  50. of the time), but just never really caught on, like the bugs did.
  51. Just my guess as to why they were considered a "lemon" by the author.
