- actually, i have this very book, and although i haven't really read it
- closely, i think that rather than "lemons", the book would have been
- better titled "unsuccessful" cars. I'm sorry that i can't comment
- on the VW's, as i had to leave it at home, and didn't make it
- that far in it. Most of the other cars talked about in there were
- more cars that had..problems selling, rather than really anything
- actually wrong with the car. Aslo, some of them were cars that had
- bad raps, according to many, like the corvair, and the Pinto(please,
- no debates on truth to the reputations these cars acquired..i'm just
- trying to inform!;-). Perhaps this is all that the type III's are in
- there for..because they never sold well(i don't have sales figures, so
- this is an educated stab in the dark). But as far as i know, the type
- III's never really had specific problems(besides those related to VW's
- of the time), but just never really caught on, like the bugs did.
- Just my guess as to why they were considered a "lemon" by the author.
