  27. I have a feeling the 87 GTI you are buying is FUBAR....or at least
  28. needs a tune up, etc. real bad. The car should be able to move away
  29. from a standing start at normal revs...ie off idle...1,800 rpms.
  30. There is definately something wrong with the car if it can't come
  31. off the line unless you are doing 3 to 4k. Hell, I launch my 
  32. autox GTI off the line in competition at 3300 rpm..but that
  33. causes a bit of wheel spin and hell on the clutch...thats
  34. racin...but for the street forget it!

  36. I would suggest that you really check out this car to the Nth
  37. degree before buying it!
