- My '88 truck with 350 did the same thing. Two bolts which hold the accessory
- mounting plate (which carries A/C, alternator, PSteering pump and idler)
- had fatigued and their heads had fallen off. This allowed the PSteering pump
- to get out of alignment slightly. It would flex more out of align as I would
- place a load on it by steering. The bolts in question are low on the front
- of the engine above and near the crank shaft.
