- No, 3 carbs on a 2 stroke triple wasn't particularly rare, and wasn't
- necessarily a Monte Carlo. The Monte Carlo differed from the standard 96 (of
- that vintage; earlier ones had a single carb) by (1) oil injection (a separate
- oil tank with a pump, rather than adding a quart of 30-weight oil to 8 gallons
- of gas); (2) a tachometer (and an oil pump pressure light) on the dash; and
- other--perhaps less visible--things that I can't recall off the top of my head.
- I owned 3 2-strokes during the mid-70s through early 80s (66 models, all), and
- they all had 3 carbs, but none was a Monte Carlo. (I also owned a 67 V4, which
- I bought later and sold late, but which I never enjoyed as much.) The real
- problem with these Saabs (at least mine, which were in Chicago and Madison, WI)
- was rust--especially along the fire wall....
