- Hi folks,
-
- I've been helping a friend find an inexpensive replacement for a blown
- tweeter on one of his Polk PC-5 Junior (roughly correct) speakers (c.1988).
- He can't afford the $75 the dealer charges for the tweeter, so I thought
- there might be another source available (even used).
-
- The tweeter model number is SL 2000, a "Silver coil dome designed and
- manufactured by Polk Audio." It looks like a 1" tweeter.
-
- If anybody is familiar with this driver and has any helpful ideas we
- would be very appreciative.
-
- BTW, one of the reasons I'm doing this, including posting on r.a.h-e,
- is that it seems like a great real-world learning experience for me.
- I've spent the last year reading alot and putting together a system that
- I'm overjoyed with - but it works "perfectly," and there is nothing on
- which I can get my hands dirty! Hopefully, some of you can enlighten
- me on, for example, the pros/cons of a third-party replacement driver,
- and any other nuances that might relate to this endeavor.
-
- Thanks for any advice you can give,
-
