- I use Perfect Box and find it very useful. It gets you very close but
- then you have to tune a bit, especially with small boxes. After
- playing with it a bit, Perfect Box gives the following results (all
- for sealed boxes):
-
- Model Volume F3 F10
- (ft3) (Hz) (Hz)
-
- S8 .33 64 37
- 1.0 71 30
- 2.0 77 29
-
- S10 .7 58 31
- 1.5 66 26
- 2.0 69 26
-
- S12 .88 40 28
- 1.5 36 22
- 2.0 36 21
-
- If the numbers are right, the S12 in a 1.5 cubic foot is pretty darned
- amazing, though the sensitivity is nothing to write home about.
-
- Enjoy!

- MAN what a WOOFER!!! I just put in a set of S-10's in a 300zx turbo using a
- HiFonics Hercules as power- they seriously threw down! HOWEVER--- totally
- disregard the trash Kicker sends with the Solobarics about using them in
- only sealed enclosures (under .66 ft^3 for the 10's, etc)! The pair I used
- are in a box designed on a computer, which came out .86 ft^3 ported @ 29
- Hz, with boost of 6 dB at 29. I can clip the Hercules (375 watts !!!)
- into the S-10's at any frequency tried without audible protest; they
- don't even move much near port frequency, so mechanical damage is not
- going to be a factor either. As for the sound, they put out bass comparable
- to a good pair of 15's in a BIG box, only as tight as some of the best 10's.
- I would say that in the configuration I used, the S-10's can put out more
- and lower frequency bass on the same power than C-12xl's currently available.
-
- Moral of story: they are expensive, but they are better.
-
- Regards,
- Gordon.
