  14.   I'm asking this for a friend who has no net access.  He's looking
  15. to put together a good home theatre/stereo system, including a Sony
  16. TAE-2000ESD preamp, power amp(s), and front, centre and surround
  17. speakers.  He's recently tried out the Mirage 790, 990 and M7si.  At
  18. this point, he's leaning towards the Mirage M7si, with a Mirage MCC
  19. center speaker, and Mirage M190 rear speakers.

  21.   There are a few things he'd like to know: First, can anybody
  22. recommend good power amps?  He's looked at the literature for the
  23. B&K Video-5 Sonata and the Forte' FT-1 five-channel amps, and has
  24. listened to their smaller stereo siblings.  At first listen, the B&K
  25. sounded better, but that may have been due to room differences at
  26. different dealers.  Can anybody recommend another 5(or 6)-channel
  27. amp with at lesat 100W/ch for the front three channels?
  28. Alternatively, separate power amps for mains and for the centre and
  29. surround channels?  This seems prohibitively expensive, though.

  31.   Second:  Any other speakers in the M7si price range that are worth
  32. looking at?  He really liked the sound of the M7, so speakers that
  33. sound radically different may not be a good idea.

  35.   Third: The bass response on the M7 seemed quite adequate on even
  36. very low tones, but he didn't have a chance to try them with the
  37. very lowest pitches, like an orchestral bass drum.  Does the M7
  38. really have adequate bass response, or is a separate sub necessary?
  39. How does Mirage's powered sub stack up?
