  11. Hi, folks!

  13.     Well, its about that time to get a pair of speakers to match my
  14. set of Parasound seperates. I am interested in a pair that is around $500
  15. for the initial permutation of the system. I am flexible on price.

  17.     These speakers will be driven with a Denon DCD-620 that feeds a
  18. set of Parasound seperates: the HCA-500 50wpc amp, and the P/FET-900II
  19. preamp. My listening tastes include a great deal of "alternative" music,
  20. along with a smattering of pop, reggae, and classical music. A real grab
  21. bag, basically.

  23.     My current speakers are a set of (dare I say it?) Bose *bookshelf*
  24. speakers. Not the '01' series, not the '.2' series, and not the AM-5 or 7
  25. accoustimass series. They are a pair of normal bookshelf speakers with a
  26. 1" tweeters and ported 6-1/2" woofers.

  28.     My friendly local dealer carries the following brands, among
  29. others: NHT, Celesition, Alon, and Energy. I heard the little Celestions
  30. while in the process of purchasing the Parasound stuff, and was very
  31. favorably impressed. The price is very reasonable, as well. My main
  32. concern is that they are a bit thin on the bass, but I can live with that
  33. as long as they can get the midrange right.

  35.     Any comments on the above brands or any others that you feel are
  36. worth consideration would be appreciated. I plan to go visit the store
  37. next weekend.
