  14. I've just had a play with the new Sony MiniDisc walkman
  15. player.

  17. Now I wouldn't like to make comparisions with CD, LP, DCC
  18. DAT etc as I only heard the thing as a unit ie with it's
  19. own headphones, and in isolation.
  20. But I can give my opinion on the thing in general in terms
  21. of value for money. Here goes for anyone
  22. who's interested:

  24. I honestly thought it sounded terrible. Really bad. The
  25. treble was just falling apart, timing and `drive'
  26. were very poor, and the bass weak. All in all extremely nasty.
  27. To me it sounded like the original CD players - but worse.
  28. It really did not give as good a sound as a half decent
  29. Walkman. I'll be intersted to hear one as part of a hifi.

  31. Now considering that it cost 500 pounds sterling (recordable
  32. version) and considering it's a damned site bigger and heavier
  33. than a tape walkman, and considering that you could have a 
  34. Sony Professional Walkman with a good pair of headphones
  35. for less cash, then I ask myself, is anyone going to buy one?
