- I have recently acquired a set of silver plated bookends. They
- are in the shape of ducks, Mallards I think, landing on a wave crest. I
- believe that they are silver plate but I do not know the date of
- manufacture. I was told by the person who I bought them from they are from
- the 1920's. It would be pretty much impossible to determine if this is
- valid from the bookends alone, however, there is a makers mark on the rear
- of each bookend. It looks like this <BP> forming a diamond shape around the
- initials. I have attempted to find the maker from this and came up with
- Benjamin Pierpont. This BP however lived in Boston in the early 1870's and
- worked primarily in pure silver not plate. Anyone with any ideas?
