- TEMPEST, well known to Portland audiences from their many previous
- appearances, is currently touring the Pacific Northwest in support of
- their third release, "Serrated Edge".
-
- Founder and lead singer of TEMPEST, Lief Sorbye, describes his band's
- musical style as Celtic Rock; traditional folk material from the British
- Isles hammered out with rock 'n roll energy. The varied backgrounds
- and diverse talents of the band's members, who all contribute to the
- song writing, add to bring out an innovative, energetic, and offbeat mix.
-
- Lief, who is originally from Norway, plays his own trademark double-necked
- electric mandolin as well as the flute and tin whistle. Rob Wullenjohn,
- lead guitarist, is from San Francisco. The percussionist, Adolfo Lazo,
- hails from Cuba by way of Spain. Bass guitar is provided by Ian Butler,
- from San Diego. Californian fiddle player Jon Berger will be adding a
- new twist when he joins TEMPEST for this tour.
-
- Based in the San Francisco Bay area, TEMPEST tours extensively throughout
- the United States as well as Canada. Performing in clubs, concerts,
- and festivals, TEMPEST continues to win critical acclaim and hordes of
- fans to their brand of Celtic Rock!
