  26. Wrongo.  The people that ran on the "We'll undo the Florio taxes"
  27. didn't even make an effort to the property taxes (the sales tax was
  28. NOTHING compared to what everyone is charged in in property taxes).
  29. The entire "Get rid of your incumbents" campaign was a lark to get rid
  30. of Democrats (the majority) and put in a new slate of Republicans.  It
  31. worked, and now the new people aren't keeping their promises.

  33. It's interesting that the following year all the states that hadn't
  34. raised taxes when Florio did were forced into raising taxes because
  35. they were having ECONOMIC CRISISES.  It looks like Florio knew what he
  36. was doing by raising taxes a little and forestalling problems.

  38. Heaven forbid that government should be pro-active.

  40. I'd MUCH rather pay state taxes which generally get pumped into
  41. services that I see being used, than federal taxes that go to
  42. pork-barrel projects in OTHER states, paying debts (NJ has none),
  43. and paying for million dollar toilets in the military.

  45. Heck, if the federal government we really wanted to save money they'd
  46. ban heterosexuals AND homosexuals from the military!
