- Ends officially at 12 noon on the 20th. If Clinton had a flat tire on
- the way to the inauguration, Al Gore would temporarily assume the role
- of President provided that he had taken his oath of office at noon.

- Which reminds me of one of my favorite trivia questions: Who was the
- first President of the United States (under our present Constitution,
- that is)? Answer: John Adams. Seems that George Washington showed up
- eight days late for his swearing-in ceremony, and John Adams took his
- oath as VP on time, thus assuming the role of acting President.
