  12. This is the weekly summary of USENET throughput by day at exnet2, a
  13. public-access site in London, England.

  15. The aim of this summary is to show the different flows on different
  16. days of the week.  This should help news admins make space in their
  17. spool directories for worst-case flows.

  19. This site does not get a full feed.  We concentrate on the technical
  20. hierarchies (comp and sci), our regional ones (uk and eunet) and a few
  21. others (such as gnu).

  23. What you see below is a listing of flows on each day of the preceeding
  24. week(s) both by number of articles and by volume (bytes).

  26. The long-term (lt) averages are smoothed with the function:
  27.     new_lt_value = (new_value + old_lt_value * 15) / 16.

  29. A side-effect of the bandwidth of the link to the news server and the
  30. way the stats are collected is a `smearing' of heavy data flows from
  31. one day into the next.  So peaks may be even higher than shown.
