  17. Proposed Newsgroup: rec.sport.rowing

  21. Description: Discussion about rowing and erging.

  23. Charter: The purpose of rec.sport.rowing is to provide those who are interested
  24.     in the sport of rowing, with the ability to communicate with other 
  25.     fellow rowers throughout the civilized world.  It would serve as an 
  26.     informant for those who no nothing about the sport, those who want to 
  27.     share the latest rowing/erging information (on races, new equipment or 
  28.     interesting news), and those who just want to share their experiences 
  29.     with everyone else.  It gives everyone the opportunity to enhance their
  30.     knowledge of rowing, keeping fit on the ergometer and other training 
  31.     programs.  If rec.sport.rowing is created, all discussions relating to 
  32.     the following acceptable postings should be posted to rec.sport.rowing,
  33.     and not rec.boats.paddle.  
  34.  
  35.     Acceptable Postings:
  36.         1. Any questions, comments, results, or suggestions which are 
  37.            related to either rowing or erging. 
  38.         2. Any postings which may fall into the rowing category must 
  39.            deal with:  sweep oar rowing, sculling, or coxing.

  41. Justification of Uniqueness:
  42.     The proposed newsgroup, rec.sport.rowing, would open up a new frontier
  43.     for rowers around the world.  Currently the only newsgroup which rowers
  44.     are only slightly welcome to is rec.boats.paddle.  Therefore, it is 
  45.     necessary for a new newsgroup to come into existence.  Having a 
  46.     separate rowing group allows readers to gain a sense of unity, and 
  47.     gives them the ability to discuss topics which interest everyone in the
  48.     group.

  54.     All votes must be mailed to: gumby@choate.edu
  55.     or sent as a reply to the originator of this CFV (gumby@choate.edu). 
  56.     They will be counted as "yes" or "no" votes according to their subject 
  57.     line and message body.

  68. Voting Rules:
  69.     -Only one vote per user (Two different people cannot vote under the
  70.      same user name).
  71.     -Any votes which are received after the voting period
  72.      will be discarded.
  73.     -Any vote which does not follow the above examples specifically, 
  74.      will not be valid.
  75.     -Anyone who wants to change their previous vote may do so by voting
  76.      again.  They must indicate that they have previously voted and are
  77.      changing their mind in a footnote.  A changed vote will discard your
  78.      previous vote.

  80. Ambiguous Votes:
  81.     Ambiguous votes -- those who do not follow the specified format, or 
  82.     do not make clear the voter's intent, will, where possible,  be 
  83.     returned to their senders for clarification.  Ambiguous votes which 
  84.     cannot be returned to their senders or for which no clarification is 
  85.     provided will be identified in vote mass acknowledgements and in the 
  86.     final vote tally.
