-
- For this newsgroup, you don't need to specify a distribution. The
- whole world isn't receiving this newsgroup -- only sites in "ne"
- (whatever that covers) get it.
-
- To answer your general question about distribution abbreviations,
- I'll quote from The Whole Internet Catalog & User's Guide (by Ed
- Krol):
-
- "There is no way to find out exactly what distribution lists are
- available for a server. There are a set of standard distributions
- what are available on most servers, but they describe only wide
- areas. They are:
-
- world Worldwide distribution (default)
- att Limited to AT&T
- can Limited to Canada
- eunet Limited to European sites
- na Limited to North America
- usa Limited to the United States
- IL,NY,FL... Limited to the specified state
-
- The problem comes in with smaller, local distributions whose names
- are made up by the local server's administrator. So only he can
- tell you for sure."
-
- I'd be interested to know which sites receive the "ne" newsgroups.
- If you find out, please post the answer.
