  23. BASIC FUNCTION:
  24. Works on or participates with others on the definition, design, coding, 
  25. documentation, and testing of new or existing software.  
  26.  
  27. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  28. * Designs and implements software solutions to complex test and measurement 
  29.   problems using advanced techniques and achieving high efficiency and 
  30.   reliability.
  31. * Designs and implements drivers that control sophisticated hardware for 
  32.   electronic measurement including digital signal processing.
  33. * Plans and takes responsibility for software for complex applications, often 
  34.   guiding the technical work of others in a mentoring capacity.
  35. * Participates in the planning of product strategy for the department.
  36.   
  37. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
  38. * Proven software design and programming skills using C/DOS/Windows/UNIX
  39. * Experience working with instrumentation and drivers.
  40. * Digital signal processing experience.
  41. * Project experience, start to completion.
  42. * Ability to communicate effectively and succinctly, in both a written and 
  43.   verbal manner, about a project status or in making presentations. 
  44. * Working to tight deadlines in a team environment.
  45.  
  46. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  47. A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and a minimum  
  48. of five years job-related experience.
