  11. About a year ago, my wife and I joined the the Charles J. Givens
  12. organization (the guy who wrote 'Financial Self-Defense' & 'Wealth
  13. without Risk').  The cost to join was something like $465 and
  14. for that we got the Financial Library, which is a big three ring
  15. (a couple hundred pages I think, I can't remember now), a set of 
  16. audio tapes and a video tape (it also include a year subscription 
  17. to his newsletter, but that is NOT part of this deal).

  19. The gist of his stuff is how to lower your car insurance, find low 
  20. interest credit cards, or cards with no annual fee, tips on
  21. buying life insurance, investing in mutual funds, having a business 
  22. at home for tax purposes, getting into real estate, etc...

  24. This is not to be construed as any kind of endorsement: Mr. Givens
  25. has come under some fire and criticism for some of his ideas
  26. and business dealings (so no flames, please).  As with a lot
  27. of things, you have to decide for yourself which of his strategies
  28. appeal to you and fit your own personal comfort zone.

  30. However, we have been able to get into real estate (a house on
  31. the Cape), lower our car insurance costs, get a low interest
  32. (10.5%), no annual fee credit card, and started investing in
  33. mutual funds on our own (some funds require as little as $25 
  34. to start) that have done pretty well.

  36. Anyways, we are continuing to subscribe to his newsletter, but
  37. don't really need the items described above.  So...
  38.  
  39. Financial Library, audio tapes, and video: $120 obo, + s/h +
  40. C.O.D. charges.  If you live within an hour or so of where
  41. I do, I might be willing to meet half way some where to 
  42. avoid any charges.
