- Without doubt there will be many answers to this question , however;
- I have three choices - in order of preference:
-
- Wine and Cheese Cask (corner of Beacon and Cambridge streets ?)
- in Cambridge.
-
- Very knowledgeable staff, they usually have someone handling questions
- in the beer department and a different person handling questions in the
- wine department. On the downside, they limit the beers they keep in stock
- probably so they get decent turnover and therefore fresher beer. They do
- have things like Kriek (sp?) , Chimay and French country style beers.
-
- Beer store in Davis square - The name escapes me now.
-
- They do not have a regular in house expert but the staff often knows
- what is what. They have a large selection including some pretty obscure
- stuff, like Thomas Hardy in several different vintages.
-
- Beer/Wine store on Mass Ave. - opposite Hollywood Expreess - name escapes me.
- (i.e. Mass Ave just west of Harvard square - near the professor streets )
-
- Large selection , convenient , open late , expensive.
-
- Also:
-
- Now that Cambridge Brewery has a sign up announcing it I guess I can
- mention it here too. They sell beer to go, $10/gallon or $0.11/oz for
- smaller quantities. Supply your own container ( I use 1/2 gallon mason
- jars), though they might sell containers now. Drink within 24 hours
- of obtaining it. And even 24 hours may be a bit too long. It is
- possible that other "brewpubs" have the same sort of deal. I have heard that
- the "farmers and brewers" license requires it.
