- Rent? Only if you pay rent and the receiver declares it as income.
- If you are a renter, makes sense.

- Sure, deduct chairs and paper and pencils.

- The biggie however, is depreciation.

- If you had a 7 room house and one room was 100% used for a home
- office you can deduct 1/7 of the cost of your home (building, not
- land) depreciated over 20 (??) years. That's usually more than the
- pencils.
