- Is there any way to recover from paying significant amounts of state
- tax in the year AFTER the income happened? This year it appears that
- I am subject to AMT, since state tax isn't deductable in the AMT calcs.
-
- eg State tax owed in 1991: 10000
- State tax payed in 1991: 5000
- 91 State tax payed in 92: 5000 (on april 15, of course).
-
- owe in 92: AMT (24% or so) of $5000, in addition to income tax on 92 earnings.
-
- Bummer.
