  17. I am a step-mother to three boys (who live with us) when we got them, they
  18. were 3, 4, 6 years old - we had a long drive to pick them up (4 hours)
  19. and about 1/2 way home they asked me if they could call me mom - that is
  20. the ultimate "acceptance" in my book - I also knew them quite well by the
  21. time we got custody.
