- I can't resist putting in my 2-cents worth.
-
- My daughter (just under 6) loves to make anything with hamburger - meat
- loaf, meat balls, etc. She un-wraps the hamburger and I add the other
- ingredients (egg, bread crumbs, and herbs). She loves to squish things
- together with her hands and to shape it. Make funny-shaped individual
- meat loaves, plain meat balls, or put meat balls into spaghetti sauce.
- One of her favorites is Aikin Drum.
-
- [For those of you have missed this, it is a song (one version done by
- Rafi):
- There is a man lived in the moon, lived in the moon, lived in the moon.
- There is a man lived in the moon, and his name was Aiken Drum.
-
- His hair was made of spaghetti, spaghetti, spaghetti.
- His hair was made of spaghetti, and his name was Aikin Drum.
-
- His eyes were made of meat balls ...
-
- His nose was made of cheese ...
-
- His mouth was made of pizza ... (I substitute a catsup smile)
-
- You can actually make up any verses that you want. Put the things
- together on a plate to make a face.]
-
- Any thing with pasta is a big hit. There is a lot of variety here. Just
- last night I did Hot Pasta and Ham: Cook pasta (I use the multi-colored
- stuff from Bread of Life - they have different shapes and I let her choose
- which shape we use). While it was cooking I chopped red bell pepper, celery,
- and a couple of pieces of ham luncheon meat. When the pasta was cooked, I
- drained it and combined everything with a small amount of olive oil, black
- pepper, and herbs. You can hide a LOT of vegtables in a pasta dish!
-
- Anything SHE can help with is well received. I have recently solved the
- lunch problem by having HER pack her lunch (with minor supervision) the
- night before.
-
- Good luck!
