  12. The other day Jan (my wife) picked up Laura at her grandparents to take her
  13. home.  
  14.  
  15. Well, Laura didn't want to give up the National Geographic she was looking at,
  16. and Jan didn't want the fight, so Laura got to bring the magazine home (read it
  17. in the car :-)  Ditto for going down for her nap.  Rather that risking a major
  18. fight, she put Laura down in her crib still clutching the National Geographic
  19. and said night-night.  A little while later, she peeked in to find Laura had
  20. curled up clutching the magazine and gone to sleep.

  22. About 1 1/2 hours later, Jan peeked in again.  Laura was awake, sitting up in
  23. her crib and "reading" the magazine again.  Did she want to get up?  Nope.
  24. Jan brought her a bottle, which Laura took and continued with the magazine.
  25. A while later Jan went in again to check on her.  Laura hands her the empty
  26. bottle ("I'd like a re-fill, please") and goes back to the magazine.

  28. We've always felt it was important to raise a literate child!
