- My question was not intented to 'pick nits' - I find that a lot of people
- DO think that condoms protect you from AIDS 100%! And I think that the more
- the words 'SAFE SEX' are used to describe sex with condoms, the more this
- myth will be perpetuated, even by parents who want to do right by imparting
- the correct information to their children. Using the words, 'SAFER SEX' is
- not just nit-picky; it forces realization of the risks. 'SAFE SEX' implies
- 'free from risk'.
- I don't think teens having sex is necessarily immoral (in MY opinion) but
- I do think it is potentially life-threatening; as the numbers of teens with
- AIDS rise, this seems to be true (some cases do come from dirty needles,
- though). AIDS, for now, is a TERMINAL DISEASE.
- If you reread my post, you will see that I was asking if this is not true.
- I meant, do condoms not provide 'partial protection' from AIDS? Pregnancy
- was not the risk I was considering, although it is important, of course.
